Hunting is a sport that has made itself uniquely American. While always popular, in recent years especially there have been radically more people registering for hunting licenses. In 2009, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reported that 14,974,538 people had a private license for hunting, which was an increase of over 500,000 from the year before.
This figure means that the total amount of people who are eligible to hunt in the United States outnumber China’s military over six times over! The CEO of the National Shooting Sports Foundation claims that this is a good thing because it shows the passion Americans have for hunting and the funds result in more funds for wildlife conservation.
